Like all VoIP products, NetZero VoIP allows users to make long-distance phone calls via the internet. The software client translates the audio voice signal into digital data and transmits that data via the internet, then the data meets a gateway near the calling destination which translates it into a local audio phone signal that can be received by a traditional telephone.
